Three years in jail for counterfeiting
In October one of the district courts in the Central Bohemia Region of the Czech Republic sentenced a Czech individual to three years in jail for online and offline distribution of counterfeit products. In explaining its decision, the court reasoned the unusually harsh punishment by the number of seized counterfeits involving 4,478 pieces of various textile goods of many premium brands and 29,991 key rings of multiple car and motorcycle makes and also by the recidivism of the offender, who was sentenced for distribution of counterfeits already twice by the Czech and German courts. It remains to be seen if an appeal is filed and this judgement upheld by the appellate court.
